The New Me

One thing that i have changed about myself since i started at BW was my organization skills. I have always been a very organized person but now i plan everything out exactly. I have certain times that i will work on/ study of certain classes. This change came about because i realized that to get everything i need done i would have to plan everything out perfectly. College has taught me that u have to make time for everything and that you have to put your school work ahead of everything else. This was definitely a positive change.

Another thing i have changed about myself is that i am more outgoing and more willing to talk to to people i don't know and get to know them. Before i started here i used to kind of stay in my own circle of friends where i was comfortable but now i realized that u have to put yourself out there to meet new people. At first i was really quiet and didn't talk to many people besides the few i already knew but i realized that i wasn't going to meet anyone new if i didn't talk to them and get to know them.

One last change i have made was that i am less involved in college. In high school i was into everything, sports, clubs, organizations, everything but since i started college I'm so worried about my classes that i feel like i don't have time for other things so i just don't try. This is a negative change that i see in myself because i really would like to be more involved but maybe i need to just try a little harder and not stress myself out about classes.

My Friends

When I first came to Baldwin Wallace I did not know anyone. Soon after starting classes I realized that two people from my school actually started here when I did and I had no idea. So technically I knew two people when I started here. The first new people I met on campus have been through my classes, there are just the few people that you get along with and usually the people you stay friends with. My group of friends has not changed since the beginning of the semester because I have mostly just stayed in the same group of people. At first, meeting new people is scary especially if you don't really know anyone when you start out but once you get used to the environment it is a lot easier to meet new people that are just like you.

My Campus Event

The event that I attended was Global Friends Hour with the speaker Dr. Param Srikantia. His presentation was about the education system in todays society. He explained how everything in todays society is so uniform and standardized, how this is turning us into "walking robots" trying to fit into a society that makes us all different. We are waking up and having our routine for the day, these kinds of things are just ways that the education system is controlling us. I loved the way he presented the information to the group because he didnt just throw a bunch of scientific terms at us he actually explained what he was saying and interacted with the group to make it funny as well as fun for everyone there. He is very popular because they even had to set up chairs along the back wall because everyone wanted to hear him speak. He also holds a five hour long session of "Why life sucks" I would really enjoy going to this and would encourage others to go as well.

My Finances

I do not have a budget set for my self i just kind of know what i need and try to divide my check up into the things i need for sure and the things that i can do without. This way if i have extra money after Ive bought the things i need i can get the things i want that are not a complete necessity.

I have definitely spent more than i expected this semester, mostly on books and supplies for school but also on things i didn't really need such as vending machines or eating out in between classes.

Being a commuter, most of my money has been spent on gas getting myself to school and home.

I feel like i don't really need to change my spending habits because i get by without any problems but i could save the money that i spend on eating out for a time when i may need it or so that when i buy all my books for next semester it won't be a big chuck of money all out at once because it will be money i have saved up.

My Goals

Goal 1: Academic Goal
I hope to get good enough grades to make the deans list here at BW. This is important to me   because i want to show that i can do it. One step i can take to make this goal happen is to get all A's this semester.

Goal 2: Friendship Goal
I hope to meet a lot of new people on campus and in my classes to be more connected. This is important to me because i want to be meet new people from all over and become more diverse. One step that i can take to make this goal happen is to be more social and talk to more people when i get the chance, also to interact with everyone and not just a small group of the same people.

Goal 3: Student Involvement
I hope to be more connected on campus and be involved in at least one organization on campus. This is important because this is another way that i can meet new people and get more connected, also i will get to know the campus a little more and maybe even the professors. One step i can take would be to go to a meeting of a group or groups to see what kinds of things i would be interested in.
